TUESDAY 31st JANUARY 2006 . . . MADRID, SPAIN

Yeah, I know... it's been a long time between posts. Well, I've got a number of good excuses. I've been working around the clock on a new wacky business idea. Some mornings, when Maria gets up to go to work, I'm still sitting here tapping and silently swearing at the computer. And when I did find a few spare minutes, I've designed a BRAND NEW WAY TO SURF THE SAVAGE FILES! You see, I've received a few complaints that, as this website has grown and grown, it's become increasingly difficult to find your way around, and to get to the section that you're most interested in. Well, I personally don't understand where the problem is. It's as easy as clicking on the 'search journal' button at the top of the journal page, and then following the very clear text links. But never let it be said that I don't listen to my readers. If you go to The Savage Files home page, you'll see a list of 'countries I have visited'. You'll see that a number of the countries are in bold type, yes?

Well, click on any of those countries to open a slideshow of my photos from that country. Click on any photo to be redirected to the particular journal entry that refers to it. Got it? Now get into it! NOTE: OUR TRIP FROM GERMANY TO RUSSIA COVERED SIX COUNTRIES, BUT THEY ARE ALL PUT TOGETHER IN ONE SLIDESHOW

And the photo at the top of this page? Well, Maria pried me away from the computer on Saturday morning, and we spent a great weekend with our friends Natalia and Free Willy, who live outside Madrid. On Saturday, we hiked into the mountains to have a barbecue lunch. It was two degrees below freezing when we started the fire at about 3:00pm, and it was two degrees below freezing when we left three hours later! Normally, I wouldn't entertain the thought of going wandering into the wilds at subzero temperatures, but I have to say it was a lot of fun! I have to get back to my plot to take over the world, so will leave you with the photos below...
