Hi. My name is Andrew, from SDQ designs.
I'm the guy who helped Steve
get this website up and running. Steve has asked me to relay a message
to you,
since I still have access to his website, which he no longer does!
An hour after he posted the last journal update, his trusty laptop
computer died.
The verdict is that repair would not be economical, the possibility of
recovering
lost files would be slim, and also prohibitively expensive. Luckily,
he's at least
backed up a copy of the book he's been writing. However, a myriad of
his other
files- along with a couple of thousand irreplaceable photographs- have
been
lost forever.
After a quick shopping trip down London's famous Tottenham Court Road,
Steve is all kitted out with a new second hand computer- a tiny little
Sony Vaio,
perfect for travelling. It will take him some time to get the new
laptop up to
speed, and he's asked me to apologize for this. At the moment, he
doesn't even
have a CD drive or a floppy drive, hence he can't load any software
onto the
new machine. He says he's busy working as much overtime as possible
this
week, to pay for the computer and buy a CD drive, and he wants his
readers to
know that any assistance towards meeting this unexpected expense will
be
gratefully received. If you've been following Steve's journeys around
North
America, and his experiences in England, this could be the time to help
out. So
far, there have been a handful of readers (you know who you are!) who
have
been more than generous with their support of Steve's project- Steve
wants
you to know he's not asking for more from you. This time he'd like to
open the
opportunity to the hundreds of other websurfers who check in on
The
Savage Files every week. There's a paypal button at the bottom of this
page. Take your pick. If you want
to help
out, and would also like to be a part of this project, check out his Challenge Steve page for ideas!
Thanks, and hopefully the next update will be from Steve himself, in
the not too
distant future.
Andrew,
SDQ
designs.
